Lock It for Love (LIFL) Volunteer Sign-Up

Since 2015, Women’s Voices Lock It for Love volunteers have participated in 329 community events and distributed over 9,700 free gun locks while talking to parents and caregivers about the importance of safely storing firearms. Volunteers also serve as liaisons with community partners to make locks available in the community. Through these efforts, an additional 16,000+ locks have been distributed to gun owners at 34 partner locations. Our message is simple: Adults can prevent children from being killed or injured by locking up their guns.

In 2020, Lock It for Love volunteers distributed over 1,000 gun locks at COVID-19 testing events and at St. Louis County Library food distribution events. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused us to pivot from community events to establishing partnerships with area nonprofits such as the Urban League Serving Our Streets program, the YWCA Head Start program, the East Side Health District, four St. Louis City Public Library branches and others to continue getting gun locks in the hands of those who need them.

Volunteers continue to be instrumental to the success of the Lock It for Love program, by establishing connections, training partner organizations, delivering locks to them, preparing materials and in continuing to distribute locks at community events when possible.

By contributing as little as two hours of your time, you can make a positive difference in decreasing gun-related injuries. Please join Women’s Voices in this important work.
